Start-Up Intra-Company Transfer (ICT) Work Permit
Applicable to specialized knowledge workers, senior executives, and managers, the Intra-Company Transfer (ICT) category is tailored for those transitioning from a foreign entity to a Canadian affiliate, parent, or subsidiary.
To qualify for the ICT Start-Up work permit, applicants must:
- Currently work for a multinational company outside Canada.
- Hold a full-time position with that company for at least one continuous year within the past three years.
- Intend to work in a similar full-time role in a Canadian affiliate, parent, subsidiary, or branch.
- Engage in employment at a legitimate and ongoing establishment of the company in Canada.
The initial permit duration is one year, extendable up to 5-7 years, with the possibility of applying for permanent residency based on Canadian company performance.
Owner Operator LMIA & Federal Skilled Worker Application
This application process involves acquiring either a new venture or an established business or investing in an existing enterprise, necessitating a significant ownership stake of at least 51%. Initially, individuals enter Canada on a work permit, with the goal of eventually obtaining permanent residency status. Owners must demonstrate sole proprietorship or majority shareholding, supported by relevant legal documentation. Furthermore, they must hold a position within the company that is not subordinate to anyone else and is secure from dismissal.
Employment with the Federal Skilled Worker Application
An existing Canadian company must extend a future job offer, subject to approval by Service Canada (the labor department). The company needs to apply for an LMIA (Labor Market Impact Assessment) and obtain a position opinion before initiating the Permanent Residence application process. This allows applicants to apply for permanent residency directly from India.
